SACH has become the largest charitable program performing life saving heart
operations on children of third world and developing countries.
The astounding success rate of 97% has been achieved with hardly any publicity,
public relations, and little money. Our greatest achievement is that all the
children, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or religion are treated free
of charge with the finest medical care and the latest technology, provided by
Save a Child's Heart in cooperation with the Wolfson Medical Center in Israel.
The team of diligent and highly skilled doctors, nurses and paramedics, has now
grown to over 70 members. The team occupies a facility of approximately 4000
square feet, and has operated on over 2,250 children.
Dr. Ami Cohen, Save A Child’s Heart Founder said, "Children are our future, and
whether the children in our care turn out to be great peace-makers, surgeons,
musicians, teachers or just ordinary people, every child deserves the very best
the world has to offer. At SACH we will do our part and make the utmost effort
to realize this ideal." SACH has received information that 2 children
from Ethiopia, who received surgery in 1998 are now at the University of Addis
Ababa studying Medicine and Engineering.
SACH has treated children from over 36 countries including China, Congo,
Ethiopia, Moldova, Nigeria, Russia, Romania, and the Palestinian Authority
among others. SACH provides the urgently needed pediatric care to children
regardless of their nationality, religion, race, sex or financial
consideration.
Almost 40% of the children treated by the program have been Palestinian
children. The SACH team, which includes Arab professionals, also has treated
children from Arab countries surrounding Israel. Arab children from Jordan,
Iraq, and especially from the Palestinian Authority have received
treatment by SACH. These children from Gaza and the West Bank are permitted to
cross into Israel to receive their life saving operations. After their children
return home healthy, the grateful parents of these children are friends of
Israel forever.
There is no better instrument to encourage peace, than a program like SACH that
saves lives of both Arab and Israeli children during this time of intifada.
SACH brings people from all over the world to Israel to gather together and
share in the mission of saving young lives and offering peace and hope for the
future.
