Recently, Save a Child's Heart received an e-mail from a Chinese mother who was desperate to find help from her baby daughter.

The following is a portion of the mother's letter:

"Today I am very conflicted. Give up or try again? My daughter was born on May 20, 2004 in Guigang. When she was forty-five days old we found out that she has serious congenital heart disease.

...Our hospital says recovery after an operation is unexpected. We are unable to pay and hope to find a chance of free medical treatment in a foreign country that can save my daughter. Meanwhile, her health is poorer and poorer. Her complexion is pale, she has difficulty breathing and her legs are very weak. We search on the Internet daily, hoping to catch a straw of any life. We beg you to be concerned about our immature daughter, in the hope that the warmth of the sun should be fair to everyone, and that our daughter will never leave her mother so early, moving alone to the dark residence of the God of death...
I think that with the help of people of kind heartedness my daughter will obtain a new life.....

Coincidentally, a team of Save a Child's Heart doctors who were operating on sick children in China heard about the child through our Executive Director, Simon Fisher, who was instrumental in bringing the sick baby and our team together in China.

Unfortunately her problem was so severet that the Save a Child's Heart team could not help her in China, so El Al made special arrangements with Save a Child's Heart to fly her to Israel for her life saving heart operation.

Heart-rending letters from poor desperate parents are often received by Save a Child's Heart. We Need your help! These sick indigent children and their parents have nowhere to turn to get the help they require to save the childrens' lives, except Save a Child's Heart in Israel. The lives of these children are in your hands.

As of December 27, 2004 the child has successfully undergone heart surgery and is recovering in the Save a Child's Heart Intensive Care Unit in Israel.

Febuary 9, 2005 - The child recuperated at the Save a Child's Heart home in Israel and has returned with her mother by El Al to China in time for the Chinese New Year.
