Why was the Save a Child's Heart program
established?
The Save a Child’s Heart program was established to provide heart surgery to
indigent children from developing countries who don’t have access to cardiac
surgeons and hospitals where they can be properly diagnosed and treated for
their heart problems.

What does SACH provide to the children in need?
The SACH doctors provide diagnosis, surgery and follow-up care, free of charge,
for children with heart defects or heart disease who are in desperate need of
cardiac treatment and would perish without it.

What is the success rate?
The success rate is 97%. This astounding success rate has been achieved with
hardly any publicity, public relations, and little money. Our greatest
achievement is that all the children, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or
religion are treated free of charge with the finest medical care and the latest
technology, provided by Save a Child's Heart in cooperation with the Wolfson
Medical Center in Israel.

In which countries does SACH operate?
SACH has treated children from over 20 countries including China, Congo,
Ethiopia, Moldova, Nigeria, Russia, Romania, and the Palestinian Authority
among others. SACH provides the urgently needed pediatric care to children
regardless of their nationality, religion, race, sex or financial
consideration.

What do these life-saving surgeries cost?
Whereas the cost for pediatric cardiac surgery, in hospitals around the world
where this type of surgery is available, is between $38,000 to $65,000 per
operation, the cost to the Save a Child’s Heart program is $10,000 per
operation. These operations are performed at the Wolfson Medical Center by
doctors, nurses and technicians who volunteer their time and receive no
remuneration for their work and efforts on the Save a Child Heart patients. The
$10,000 covers the cost of bringing the child to Israel, hospital consumables
and care of the children before and after the operation at the SACH home.

What's the purpose of the endowment fund?
Since the program is presently approaching 250 operations per year rate,
$2,500,000 is required annually in order to pay for these life saving
operations. It is the aim of the endowment fund to raise the funds for the
annual surgical costs of the program and to accumulate $40 million so the
money for the operations will always be available from the interest derived
from this money.
